Got my FR-S detailed by Brandon Wiggins of Showroom Shine NC yesterday. He's based in Wake Forest, NC but does mobile detailing for most of eastern NC, which works for me being out here on the coast. I would recommend him to anyone looking to get a detail. He was very professional, helpful, and answered any questions I had. Afterwards, we had a couple beers, talked about products that I should use for washing/general maintenance between details, and basically just BS'd about cars. Good times.
Given my usual wash interval, and the fact that I plan on getting a serious detail around once a year, I decided to take his recommendation and use HD Nitro-seal instead of Opti-Coat. Advantages are a warmer, more caranuba-type finish at the expense of durability. 8-12 months depending on care/environment is normal for Nitro-seal. I was not disappointed. The Nitro-seal looks amazing. So on to the photos!
Started off by taking care of the wheels and wells.
Getting washed with Majestic Solutions Ultra Gloss.
The amount of detailing gear in the back of his Tundra put me to shame. I still need a proper two-bucket solution. He told me to check out autogeek for detailing goods.
Then he got to claying the car, using Mother's clay with Mother's Showtime for clay lubrication.
Applying Nitro-seal Part A by hand. This sat for 15 minutes before applying Nitro-seal Part B.
I failed to take many photos between Part A and Part B of the Nitro-seal application. He took care of my interior, cleaned all glass, and dressed the tires while Part A set.
So after the Nitro-seal was applied, I rolled her back into the garage to let it work. We agreed on letting the Nitro-seal sit for 5-6 hours before he would buff it off. Brandon headed down to Wrightsville Beach, and I finished off the work day.
Here are the after shots! I'm not a professional photographer at all, but I tried my best to capture the amazing finish my car had once Brandon was done.
